MORE WEAPONS…? – NO!!! / 2025
I wanted to create a conceptual poster with a direct, concise message. Only three words, as the poster should be internationally understandable. No additional text to distract from the message. I also tried to avoid too much color or objects to emphasize the image and make the message more distinct and clear. Black represents destruction and death, red represents blood, and white represents resistance and peace. The line of the pair of eyes with tears represents grief, sadness, and impending farewells, but also a growing resignation that the message still hasn’t been understood and acted upon.
Johannes Christopher Gerard
Studied at School of Print and Design, Cologne, Germany and Dun Laogharie School of Art and Design, (IDAT) Dublin, Ireland. Lived and worked in various countries on five continents. Currently based in The Hague, Netherlands. Regularly participates in exhibitions, projects and festivals worldwide. His work focus on interdisciplinary and intercultural projects. In addition, he conducts projects and workshops in the fields of socially and community-engaged art, especially Social Sculpture.
